Known by Name, Not Truck Number
Morgan Van Lines is a smaller, family-owned trucking company where drivers are known by name, not truck number. We’ve been in business since 1962, and we run regional routes throughout the Southeast and Midwest. Our size is our advantage — small enough that your dispatcher actually knows your routes and your family, big enough to keep your miles and your paycheck steady.
What a Typical Week Looks Like
Monday morning you’ll get your dispatch. Most of our regional runs have you back home by Friday evening or Saturday morning, and we plan the week so you know what’s ahead before you leave the yard. You’ll roll out of Boonville or pick up at a customer’s dock somewhere across the Southeast and Midwest, and you’ll be running consistent, dedicated lanes — Tennessee to Mississippi, down through Alabama and Georgia, up into Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana and Illinois, sometimes south to Florida.
A normal week is two to three loaded legs with a backhaul. You’re not chasing miles you’ll never get; dispatch builds your week to keep you moving and to land you somewhere close to home for the weekend. Drivers tend to know their routes after a few months because we run the same lanes for the same customers — that’s how we keep service tight and how we keep your paychecks predictable.
Communication runs through dispatch and the in-cab tablet. If something changes — a shipper’s running late, weather on I-40, a load that needs to swap — you’ll hear about it directly, not three customers down the line. We expect drivers to communicate the same way: tell us early, tell us straight, and we’ll work the problem with you.
Pay Structure
Company drivers at MVL earn $1,400 per week on average, with regional drivers paid 60 CPM. We pay weekly. There’s no monthly settlement to wait on, and no percentage games — your miles are your miles, and they’re paid at the rate your experience tier qualifies for.
We use a three-tier experience system:
- Level 1 — drivers with under 2 years of verifiable CDL-A experience.
- Level 2 — drivers with 2 or more years of verifiable experience.
- Level 3 — drivers with 10 or more years of experience qualify for our highest pay rates.
On top of mileage, we pay detention pay when a shipper or receiver holds you longer than the agreed window, and breakdown pay when a mechanical issue takes you out of service through no fault of your own. We also pay a distance bonus when you run 2,600 or more miles in a week, on top of your CPM rate.

Equipment
Every driver gets an assigned truck. No slip-seating, no sharing. Our company driver fleet is 2022 or newer, and we’ve been adding brand-new 2027 Mack Pioneer 64T high-roof sleepers to the fleet.
The Pioneers are spec’d for drivers who spend real time in the cab. Highlights: a 76-inch high-roof sleeper, a premium high-back air-ride driver seat, a 1,800-watt sleeper inverter for personal electronics, an integrated parking cooler and fired parking heater so you can stay comfortable during resets without idling, AM/FM/Bluetooth/satellite-ready audio with steering wheel controls, and a Viper Red paint job with chrome bulldog styling and polished aluminum wheels.
Under the hood: a Mack MP8 455 HP engine paired with the mDrive 12-speed automated manual transmission. Plenty of power, tuned for efficiency, and less fatiguing on long days.
Safety spec includes the full Bendix Wingman Fusion suite: forward collision warning, active steering assist, blind spot and side object detection, lane departure warning, and electronic stability control. Air disc brakes front and rear.
We take maintenance seriously across the whole fleet, because reliable trucks mean reliable miles and reliable paychecks.
The 2027 Mack Pioneer 64T
Viper Red. Chrome bulldog. High-roof sleeper. 1,800W inverter. Parking cooler and heater. Full Bendix safety package. Automated manual transmission. This is the truck experienced drivers ask for by name.
Dedicated Runs & Your Assigned Dispatcher
MVL runs consistent, dedicated lanes through the Southeast and Midwest, so after a few months you’ll know your routes as well as your dispatcher does. Every driver has an assigned dispatcher — the same person, every week. Not a call center. Not a rotating desk. Someone who knows your name, your truck, and how you like to run.
That continuity is the whole point of a smaller fleet. When the person planning your week actually knows your routes and your preferences, the week goes smoother — fewer surprises, fewer bad loads, fewer conversations that start from scratch. It’s the difference between being dispatched by someone who knows you and being dispatched by whoever picks up the phone.
Home Time
Our drivers are home most weekends — typically Friday evening through Sunday, sometimes longer depending on how the week stacks up. Restarts happen at your home location whenever we can plan it, not at a truck stop two states away. That’s the single biggest reason drivers come to MVL and stay.
If you need additional home time — a kid’s graduation, a doctor’s appointment, a family event you can’t move — you tell dispatch as far in advance as you can and we work the route board around it. We can’t promise every request a week before it happens, but we can almost always make it work with a few weeks’ notice.
Regional means regional here. We don’t run drivers across the country and call it “home weekly.” Our lane structure is built so the math works: regional miles, regional customers, regional weekends.
Benefits
Company drivers are eligible for health insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, and paid vacation after the probationary period. We also run a pet-friendly policy for drivers who want to bring a dog or cat on the road, and we pay a driver referral bonus when someone you bring in stays and runs.
Benefits become available once you’ve completed your introductory period — typically the first 90 days. We’ll walk you through the specific plan options, premiums, and 401(k) match details during orientation, and you’ll have the paperwork in hand before you have to make any elections.
Time off works the way it should: you accrue paid vacation, you request it, dispatch plans around it. Holiday schedules and bereavement leave are covered. Nothing exotic — the things working drivers actually need, available the way they should be.
Requirements
To drive for MVL as a company driver you need a valid Class A CDL, you must be at least 21 years old, and you must have a safe driving record. You’ll need to pass a DOT physical and a hair follicle drug screen before you start. We evaluate every applicant individually — if you have a clean record and a strong work history, we want to talk to you, regardless of where on the experience tier you fall.

Orientation runs at our Boonville terminal. You’ll meet the dispatch team, walk through pay and benefits in detail, get assigned to your truck, and run through DOT paperwork. We pay during orientation, and we cover transportation in and lodging if you’re traveling from outside the area. By the end of the week you’ll have a truck assigned, a route plan in hand, and a phone number for everyone you’ll need to talk to during your first month on the road.
